The Services
What this workshop actually does
Service 1
Airbag ECU crash data reset
After a collision the SRS control unit stores crash or deployment data. That lock often stays after new bags are fitted. A dealer will usually sell a new module. Where the original ECU is compatible, we clear that stored data on the bench so the same unit can arm again. Vehicle coding and immobiliser data stay with the original module.
A diagnostic scanner is for finding the fault. It does not permanently erase crash data on most ECUs. Clearing a lamp code is not the same as this service.
Included
- Check of the part number against coverage before you post
- Removal of stored crash / deployment data on a compatible unit
- Bench check of the module after the reset
- Tracked return across the UK (included in the job)
- 24-month warranty on the reset work
You still handle on the car
- Scan the SRS and repair fired hardware first (bags, pretensioners, sensors, wiring)
- Remove and refit the ECU
- Confirm the airbag light is off after install
- Any coding a dealer tool still asks for after a new-part swap — we are reusing the original ECU, so that is usually avoided
Part lists and make-specific notes sit on the manufacturer pages. Start at check your manufacturer. How to find the part number.
Service 2
Airbag ECU repair
Repair is a different job from a reset. The module may have an internal fault: no communication on the diagnostic socket, corrupted memory, or electronic failure, with or without crash data. Where recovery is possible we work on the original unit rather than supplying a used replacement.
Not every failed ECU can be saved. We confirm from the part number (and, once the unit is here, from the bench) whether repair is realistic. If it is not, we say so — we do not treat an internally dead module as a “reset”.
Typical repair cases
- No communication / no ID on an airbag-capable scan tool
- Corrupted or unstable memory after water, jump-start or failed flashing
- Internal electronic faults where the board can still be recovered
- Crash data plus an internal fault on the same original module
What to send for a quote
- ECU part number from the label on the module
- Vehicle registration
- Scan codes or a short note if the tool cannot talk to the ECU at all
- Do not send bag photos as the quote evidence
Further repair detail: airbag ECU repair. Quote from the part number either way.
Choose the right job
Reset, repair, or not this workshop
| Situation | Usual service |
|---|---|
| Accident, bags replaced, SRS still reports crash / deployment data, ECU talks on the scanner | Crash data reset on the original module |
| ECU will not communicate, memory faults, or internal failure, original unit still wanted | Airbag ECU repair, if the part is recoverable |
| Lamp on, no crash, seat plug / occupancy mat / clock spring / low battery | Diagnose and repair on the car first — not an ECU reset |
| Need a brand-new dealer module or a used ECU coded to the car | Not what we sell. We keep the original unit where it is compatible |
Service 3
Postal service for trade and private
There is no booking diary and no site visit. Work is done on the bench in Furnace Wood, East Grinstead. Garages, bodyshops, rebuilders, auto electricians and private owners use the same route.
Order of work
- Send part number and registration on the quotation page. Wait for a yes and a price before you post.
- Your technician removes only the airbag ECU (the small control module, not the bags).
- Wrap it, put name, mobile and return address inside the parcel, send tracked with cover that matches the value of the unit.
- Address: Reset My Airbag, Greenhedges, Felcot Road, Furnace Wood, East Grinstead, RH19 2QA.
- Typical bench time is the same day or 24–48 hours after arrival. Tracked return is included.
- You pay when the job is complete, not before the module is posted.
Scope
What these services do not include
- Supply or fitting of airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, clock springs, sensors or wiring looms
- Mobile call-outs or work on the vehicle at your premises
- A quote from bag photos, VIN only, or a dashboard lamp photo without the ECU part number
- Wiping an SRS lamp while crash hardware is still faulty — the reset is for stored crash data on a serviceable original ECU
- Every part number in the UK market — coverage is confirmed from the label before you post
Choosing a service — frequent questions
Is crash data removal different from an airbag ECU reset?
No. On this site they are the same job: stored collision data is cleared from a compatible airbag ECU so the original module can arm again.
When do I need airbag ECU repair instead of a reset?
A reset clears stored crash data. Repair is for internal faults such as communication errors, electronic failure or corrupted memory where the original module can still be recovered. We confirm which applies from the part number. Dedicated repair copy lives on the airbag ECU repair page.
Can you diagnose an airbag warning light from a photo?
A dashboard photo is not enough to quote. Send the ECU part number from the module label and the vehicle registration. We then confirm whether reset or repair is the right path. How to find the part number.
Do you work for garages and bodyshops?
Yes. Trade and private customers use the same postal bench service. No appointment. Quote from the part number and registration, then post the module tracked.
What do I need for a quotation?
The ECU part number from the module label and the vehicle registration via the quotation page. You pay when the job is complete, not before you post the module.
How much is an airbag ECU reset in the UK?
Compatible crash-data reset work starts from £95. The exact price depends on the ECU part number. Tracked return is included. Reset and repair work is covered by a 24-month warranty.
Do you supply or fit airbags?
No. These services are bench work on the airbag ECU only. Bags, pretensioners, sensors and wiring stay with your technician. We do not quote from bag photos.
