This job
Repair is not a crash data reset
A reset clears stored collision data from a module that still talks to a diagnostic tool. Repair is for when the hardware itself has failed. Treating a dead ECU as “just a reset” will not bring the SRS back.

| Scanner reads the airbag ECU. Codes show crash or deployment data. Hardware on the car is already repaired. | Crash data reset — see services |
| No communication, no ID, memory errors, or an internal electronic fault. You want to keep the original unit. | This page — airbag ECU repair |
| Lamp on, no crash, seat connector, occupancy mat, clock spring or low voltage. | Diagnose on the car first. Not an ECU repair. |

When the original module needs repair
Why the original unit
Repair keeps the car’s own module
A dealer replacement is often coded, configured or VIN-matched. A used ECU from a breaker can still hold another vehicle’s crash data and coding. Where the original board can be saved, repair avoids that swap.
We do not sell used control units. If the part cannot be recovered we tell you, rather than calling a failed repair a reset. Decision background: reset, repair or replace.
What we need to quote

How a repair job runs
- Quote first. Do not post until we confirm the part is in scope.
- Send only the airbag ECU, wrapped, with name, mobile and return address inside, tracked to East Grinstead.
- We inspect the unit, recover the electronics where possible, clear crash data if it is also stored, and check the module on the bench.
- Typical time once it is here is the same day or 24–48 hours. Tracked return is included. You pay when the job is complete.
- Repair work is covered by a 24-month warranty.
Airbag ECU repair — frequent questions
What is airbag ECU repair?
Bench work on the original SRS control module when it has an internal electronic fault. It is not clearing crash data on a healthy unit, and it is not fitting new airbags.
When do I need repair instead of a crash data reset?
Reset: the ECU communicates and the remaining issue is stored crash data. Repair: no communication, corrupt memory, or internal electronic failure. Both can apply to one module. Full service list: services.
Can every airbag ECU be repaired?
No. We check the part number before you post, then the board on arrival. Water-destroyed or cracked units and replace-only modules are not forced through as a reset.
Why not fit a used ECU from a breaker?
Used modules often still hold another car’s crash data and coding. The original ECU already belongs to the vehicle. Repair is the route that keeps that match when the hardware can be saved.
What do you need for a quotation?
ECU part number and registration, via the quotation page. Bag photos are not quote evidence.
Is this a UK postal service?
Yes. East Grinstead bench, tracked both ways. No appointment. Compatible crash-data resets start from £95; repair is priced from the part number. Manufacturer lists: makes and models.
